The Baldwin neck profiles could very well be different. The double-cutaway body (with mutes) will no doubt sound different than a single-cutaway example. now that might be a recognizable difference. Chances are you won't find a vintage single-cutaway Falcon for twice that, if you can find one at all.Īs far as Golden Era falcon vs. The good news, is that you can find a really great Club for your $5000 budget. They used the same pickups too, so the sound should be close, or as close as ANY two vintage Gretsch guitars can be. I would guess that when comparing the the same model year Falcon and Club, the construction would be identical (bracing, necks profile, etc.). the things that made the Falcon "special" was purely aesthetic. This is just my opinion, and others are welcome to chime in with theirs, but. So we have no idea what the necks are like, or tonal differences to a Club. we need all the vintage guys here we can get! The problem you will have in gathering this comparison data, is that not many people have ever played a vintage single-cutaway White Falcon. I know it's a lot of questions, but I had difficulties finding much information on vintage Clubs. How important are those differences sound-wise? Moreover, bracing, fingerboard material (some Clubs have rosewood?) and spruce-top seem to be differences. Is there really a big neck difference between the Falcon and the Club? But what about differences? Some people criticize the thick neck. On the other hand, I thought about just getting a vintage Country Club (preferably a '58 or '59 model with Filtertrons and without zero fret) since it has a lot in common with a Falcon. And I read often enough that people don't dig the Baldwin models at all.īut, honestly spoken, would there be that much of a sonic difference between a pre-1961 big-bodied Falcon and a Baldwin-era Falcon? I would like to spend no more than $5000 on the guitar. I'm looking for a classic big-bodied Single Cutaway that would have to be pre-1961 or Baldwin. Sure a White Falcon would be the ultimate way to go. I'm into vintage and love the sound of aged Gretsches over newer ones. Now, since I dove into the Gretsch sphere, I consider upgrading to one of the bigger Gretsch guitars. Still I'm not sure what to think of the HiLos vs. Has a great sound to it, warm but yet very gretschy. Half a year ago I walked into a vintage guitar shop here in Berlin and saw a 1962 Gretsch Double Anniversary hanging on the wall. My budget is such that $3000 is feasible, but more might not be at this point.I'm new to the forum and I come mostly from the Fender area playing a Strat and Tele. I want this to increase in value over time. Since I'm considering selling a 1968 Gibson SG (and maybe another Gibson) to get this, I want to know from knowledgeable Gretsch folks: am I making a mistake buying an MIJ White Falcon? I plan on keeping this a long time, but who knows. With other guitars I've owned, I've been aware that unless it's made in the USA, it's not going to be as valuable in the long run. Huge range of tones.īUT I was very surprised to see that the guitar I'd thought was the flagship guitar of the Gretsch line was made in Japan!! However, today, I went to my local Guitar Center, where they had the White Falcon I'm lusting for: the filtertron (TV Jones, I think!) model with Bigsby. I've got my eye on a Gretsch White Falcon and having been a serious guitarist/composer for many years now, I've got a couple of nice vintage Gibsons I plan to sell to buy my first Gretsch. And in honesty, I'm only a wannabe Gretsch owner.

In summer, when it’s impossibly hot outside and all you wanna do is stay inside, it can be hard to find things to do. This is a bit too heavy-duty for my needs.įast forwarding, I tried and liked KeePassXC. You could run one of this on raspberry pi and use it in your home network, and expose it externally if you wish. If you want to run your own secure password server, you can do this with Bitwarden, or vaultwarden (an unofficial Bitwarden compatible server written in Rust). I don't want someone to host my passwords, however airtight everything is. If you prefer to use an online service, you can try LastPass (Freemium proprietary), 1Password (Paid proprietary), or Bitwarden (Freemium open source). This looks like the plugin-extension combination, which I am trying to get away from! Install the current release of PassFF for your browser: The host application allows the extension to communicate with pass on your system. Make sure you can execute pass show some-password-name in a terminal before continuing.įor the extension to communicate with your system's pass script, you need to install what's called the host application from the official GitHub repository. This extension requires zx2c4 pass to be installed and set up with a password repository. It appears that a plugin is required for browser integration, and that chrome and firefox are the supported browsers.įor example, to get set-up for Firefox, you must install: There are some compatible clients that you can use with pass. One downside to this approach is that you have to backup the password files and the gpg key (could be done by using paperkey). These encrypted files may be organized into meaningful folder hierarchies, copied from computer to computer, and, in general, manipulated using standard command line file management utilities. Your passwords live inside of a gpg encrypted file whose filename is the title of the website or resource that requires the password. If you want something simple that follows the Unix philosophy. It does not appear to have an import feature if you have an existing database/dataset of passwords, which is a deal-breaker for me. I don't fully get how it works end-to-end. Spectre uses a password cipher algorithm to hash and store your credentials for websites as a single value, if I am understanding it correctly. It takes a drastically different approach to KeePass, it is a "password app that contains no passwords"! Whaat? If a KeePass relative is not quite your speed, you can consider Spectre. KeePassXC is actively developed and looks promising. There are some projects that are forks of KeePass, namely KeePassX and KeePassXC. Having to select the text with the mouse and then right-click to copy the text via a context menu was an extra nuisance. When this plugin-extension version issue occured, I had to: open KeePass, track down the entry, and copy the password field manually. Then, I would need to update the plugin myself, ensuring that they are compatible.Ī personal peev was not being able to use common keyboard shortcuts such as Ctrl + C to copy text of the fields from the app. Occasionally, it would just stop working if the extension required a particular version of the plugin. I had issues keeping the plugin up-to-date with the accompanying extension. Relying on plugins for browser integration in this manner is not a good setup in my opinion. It is a concern to have this functionality outside of the remit of the core project. This project has now been archived and is no longer maintained. It was recommended (as much as I can remember) to use the KeePassHttp-Connector for Firefox at the time, which was developed independently by Andy Brandt (kudos to him). The plugin I used was not maintained by the core project. Then, you need to install the accompanying browser extension for them to interact in kind of a client-server way. You have to download the plugin yourself and drop it into a particular folder wherever you installed it to. And this works, but maybe not as you may expect.Ī plugin is required for communicating with the browser extensions to perform functions such as autofilling fields. You can install KeePass on Ubuntu using the keepass2 package. This can be a bit weird on Linux and MacOS, but not that big deal! Therefore, it has the native look-and-feel of a Windows program. It officially supports macOS and Linux operating systems through the use of Mono, which is an open source implementation of Microsoft's. KeePass is written in C# (.NET framework). However, it has some issues that set me off on a path to explore alternatives. It has integrations with browsers, and a decent feature set. So, you only have to remember the master key to unlock the database. You can store all your passwords in a secure database, which is locked with a master key. Its time to look for a replacement!įirstly, it is worth mentioning that KeePass does a lot of things well. KeePass was my first choice password manager, but as time went by, I noticed that it has some persistent issues. 49-56-7210, 49-56-7240, 49-56-7250, and 49-56-9100. But here, because we love the Stand, its food, and all of its scruffy college town feel so much, are a couple more pictures anyway. Technically, we’ve written about the Stand quite a few times, visiting the original Milledge store twice already as well as some of their satellite locations, not to mention somebody’s ill-advised idea to open a store in Alpharetta and try to make it upscale and family-friendly. You wouldn’t think an “addiction” to Americanized junk food taste on Mexican food would be so hard to break, but that’s what years of the stuff in college will do to you. They were pretty good – their tacos are even better – but they didn’t satisfy the craving. The three year-old and I met up with our pals from Spatialdrift at Taco Loco in Marietta and I ordered some. In the meantime, I broke down and had nachos wherever I could. We love Athens and miss it a lot, and would have gone that weekend, but had plans on the Saturday and saw that rain was on the forecast for the Sunday, and taking our three year-old to Athens and not letting him play at the Southeast Clarke Park is as close to child cruelty as can be imagined. It also sparked a craving in Marie she wanted a spinach quesadilla from the Mean Bean’s competitor / cross-town rival, Taco Stand. Doing so made me crave their nachos something fierce. in touch: SDVoyager is built on recommendations from the community it’s how we uncover hidden gems, so if you know someone who deserves recognition please let us know here.Back in November, I started prepping an old story that I’d written about the dearly missed Mean Bean for a reprint here.Address: 624 Broadway suite 301 San Diego, Ca 92101.It’s easy to give up, the extra push to keep it alive could turn out to have great results. Many times it seemed as if a deal was dead and somehow I was able to revive it and it turned out to be a great success. Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success? Just because something is working doesn’t mean it can’t be improved. At the same time, we are always looking for ways to improve. We go to great lengths to ensure everything is prepared daily and using only high-quality ingredients. The Taco Stand has been known for its quality and that is one thing that will never change. Tell us about The Taco Stand – what should we know? Fortunately, we now have a tremendous team that works so hard everyday and represent our restaurants proudly!Īlright – so let’s talk business. Also, building a strong team is never easy. We have learned a lot along the way, mostly what not to do. I had no real background in construction and all of a sudden we had to build out these restaurants going off of pure instinct. For me, getting involved in the build-outs was challenging. Opening a new business will rarely go smoothly. Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome? We formed our group Shōwa Hospitality last year that oversees all of our places. Ever since going to Japan for the first time a few years ago, we became fascinated with the Japanese way and that’s how the sushi places came to be. Four in SD and one in Miami as well as a couple sushi restaurants. Since then, we have opened a total of 5 Taco Stands. The response was fantastic and I decided to take a one year break from residency and open a second Taco Stand. Handmade tortillas, trompo for al pastor, elotes, fun and loud music. We had a very clear idea, to keep it real. I spoke to my uncle Aram about it and we decided to go for it. I had always had the idea to open a Taqueria like the ones I grew up going to in Tijuana. I had finished medical school and was applying to residency programs to get into surgery when space opened up next to my uncle’s pizzeria in La Jolla back in 2o13. I got into the restaurant business out of pure luck. So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian Hakim. Johnson has compared the importance of the Mahābhārata in the context of world civilization to that of the Bible, the Quran, the works of Homer, Greek drama, or the works of William Shakespeare. At about 1.8 million words in total, the Mahābhārata is roughly ten times the length of the Iliad and the Odyssey combined, or about four times the length of the Rāmāyaṇa. Its longest version consists of over 100,000 śloka or over 200,000 individual verse lines (each shloka is a couplet), and long prose passages. The Mahābhārata is the longest epic poem known and has been described as "the longest poem ever written". The text probably reached its final form by the early Gupta period ( c. The bulk of the Mahābhārata was probably compiled between the 3rd century BCE and the 3rd century CE, with the oldest preserved parts not much older than around 400 BCE. There have been many attempts to unravel its historical growth and compositional layers. Traditionally, the authorship of the Mahābhārata is attributed to Vyāsa. Krishna and Arjuna at Kurukshetra, 18th–19th-century painting Among the principal works and stories in the Mahābhārata are the Bhagavad Gita, the story of Damayanti, the story of Shakuntala, the story of Pururava and Urvashi, the story of Savitri and Satyavan, the story of Kacha and Devayani, the story of Rishyasringa and an abbreviated version of the Rāmāyaṇa, often considered as works in their own right. It also contains philosophical and devotional material, such as a discussion of the four "goals of life" or puruṣārtha (12.161). It narrates the events and aftermath of the Kurukshetra War, a war of succession between two groups of princely cousins, the Kauravas and the Pāṇḍavas. The Mahābhārata ( / m ə ˌ h ɑː ˈ b ɑːr ə t ə, ˌ m ɑː h ə-/ mə- HAH- BAR-ə-tə, MAH-hə- Sanskrit: महाभारतम्, Mahābhāratam, pronounced ) is one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India in Hinduism, the other being the Rāmāyaṇa. In Tekken 7, Kazuya can transform into his devil form in mid-fight and Tekken 8's new gameplay trailer showed him tapping to his devil gene and shooting a laser from his forehead, which is similar to one of Devil Jin's moves. Kazuya's devil form made its official debut in the original Tekken as an unlockable third costume and became a standalone character in Tekken 2 as the final boss. Some fans argued that Devil Kazuya should be a standalone playable character in the new Tekken installment, similar to Devil Jin. Now look at the steps below to know how to measure your dog for a muzzle and ensure the right fit. If the muzzle is too tight, on the other hand, your dog might face problems with breathing and panting. If the muzzle is too loose, it won’t work as it is supposed to. It doesn’t matter which muzzles you have chosen if it doesn’t fit correctly, it will be uncomfortable for your dog or, in some cases, even useless. However, both muzzles can accomplish the same goal if you have chosen the right and appropriately adjusted one, but basket muzzles are much more comfortable than soft muzzles. You’ve already understood that a soft muzzle won’t allow eating and drinking either, and you won’t be able to give him treats during a training program, which is essential. You might already know panting is the canine version of sweating therefore, a soft muzzle shouldn’t be used in hot weather and for a longer time. This design is less comfortable as your dog won’t able to pant that’s why it’s hazardous. Soft muzzles are made from nylon, mesh, or leather fabric, and it wraps around your dog’s mouth and holds it closed. Soft Dog Muzzle – Soft dog muzzles may look like they are the most comfortable, but they aren’t, even in some cases, the most dangerous. Therefore, you have to choose according to your dog. However, there won’t be any difference in the comfort if you have chosen a right fit muzzle, but a large dog or aggressive canine can break a delicate muzzle made from plastic. The basket muzzles are available in leather, plastic, wire, or even rubber material therefore, choosing it according to your dog is crucial. Most designs allow dogs to eat, drink, or even pant some styles come with slits, and you can also give them large treats such as sliced hot dogs. Basket muzzles are more comfortable than soft muzzles when they fit correctly because the dog’s mouth isn’t being held closed. There are mainly two types of muzzles, and you have to choose the right one while considering the safety and effectiveness of your dog.īasket muzzle – Basket muzzles are considered the cruelest or less humane, but the opposite is true. No matter what, it’s like your dog will need to wear a muzzle at some point in life. In some medical conditions, such as a tumor, any friendly canine can turn into a dreaded beast and can bite.Īpart from that, some specific so-called “dangerous breeds” are required to be muzzled according to some country’s law when they aren’t on their owners. According to professional dog groomers, if a dog isn’t trained adequately for accustomed to grooming may bite when we groom them against their will. |
